I am a fluent speaker of three languages 🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺 , I also know some 🇫🇷, 🇩🇪, 🇮🇹, 🇹🇷 and I’m currently learning 🇪🇸
Why do I invest my time in learning languages? Also, why should YOU do the same?👇
1. It makes you a more interesting person.
Bilinguals automatically come off as far cooler people. Personally, I have always enjoyed talking to multilingual people. They’re amazing conversationalists and that’s a fact! Such people tend to have a broader worldview and have fascinating insights to share. That’s just what language learning does to your brain — it gives you knowledge and understanding of different cultures and ways of doing things.
I mean, don’t you want to be a person everyone can learn something from? I know I do!
2. Speaking of brain benefits of language learning…
It’s a scientifically proven fact that the bilingual brain ages more slowly and runs a lesser risk of being affected by Alzheimer’s and other age-related diseases. This means that learning a foreign language can help you boost your mental health and keep your brain sharp.
3. It makes traveling much easier
Learning a new language literally opens up a new world of opportunities. I’ve already talked about how international travelers miss out big time if they can’t speak good English. They get ripped off, they never get enough value for their money, etc. Check out the saved highlights of my trip to the Maldives on my Instagram, I finally figured why some say that the Maldives are boring — they can’t speak good English to ask around about the activities.
4. It’s a tremendous help for your career journey and goals 🎯
Thanks to English you can take your career to a new level: better salary, opportunity to work with industry leaders, create amazing products that are used by millions of people, and collaborate with incredible people. Isn’t it the kind of life you want to have? If it is, there are a few good options to help you boost your communication skills and skyrocket your tech career.
5. Freedom and exclusivity
Just think about it. You’ll never have to rely on a travel agency to book a ticket or a hotel (by the way, I share tips on bookings and finding accommodation from personal experience in my Travel English Course). Knowing a second language means you can move around freely and get to experience things you otherwise wouldn’t know about. Want to read a new book? Forget about having to wait for it to come out in translation, you can read it in the original right here and now.
Do you want to be ahead of the curve? Start learning a second language!
